A

Ana is a 42yr old mother of 2, she enjoys the overall freedom that remote working provides, such as more time with her kids, on the flip side, being around her kids 24/7 takes a toll.

Alice is a 26 year old women who lives with

her boyfriend. She generally enjoys working from home, however, a lack of space and a sense of separation from the people in the company she works in does create issues.

Isaac is 27 and lives lone, he enjoys the fact he doesn't have to commute and can be comfy while working, however he also has issues with isolation and overworking, struggling with a work/life balance.

Onward to the next project...

As this was my first foray into the world of UX, I have learnt a lot, experienced a lot and have enjoyed it a lot, regarding the design, I am happy with it, but definitely have to be weary of the validation, redesign loop.

In conclusion...

The Finale

Final A/B testing

Armed with the above designs i conducted a short A/B test to gauge as to which version was preferred, which gave the majority result of B and the final version seen just below.

Based on the results and feedback I received from the user testing, I got to work

creating a more fleshed out High-Fi mockup, and an alternative to it.

2nd & 3rd Mockup

Concept testing

Using the Mid-Fi mockup I then asked a some users for feedback on the base design, by asking them a series of 1-10 scale questions, which garnered some surprising results that influenced the follow up designs

1st Mockup

The next step was to create a Mid-Fi mock-up of the above wireframe for better use in the upcoming user testing, this mock-up contains basic typography and icons, obviously nothing is near finalisation.

From the initial ideating stage I then went into creating a sitemap, trying to keep the app simple in its scope but still containing the features from the mind mapping session, from this I then started producing a basic Lo-Fi wire-frame for three pages of the app, the sign-up/login page, the homepage & the schedule page.

Wireframing

Going from the research stage, I went into ideating and started off by mapping out

features, designs etc. then condensed the ideas down until I ended up with the map on the right.

Ideate

a sense of community to those working remote?"

"How might we relieve the feeling of isolation and bring back

With the User research completed, I moved on to generating a HMW statement to work with for the rest of the project, picking the following;

From here I created a series of user personas based on the main participants in the

research, from this it was it was interesting to see that the majority of users fell

into three brackets.

User Personas

The main issue was quite overwhelmingly a feeling of isolation and lack of workplace community.

I started off by organising the research data into an Excel spreadsheet and then from there i started creating a simple affinity diagram to organise the pros & cons comments into the relevant columns, just by doing this a trend in both the good and bad had already formed.

As this was part of a short course, the in initial research was provided to me, what

I had to do was to break it all down and to see where the problems and benefits were.

This project was part of a UX design short course

by Career Foundry. The goal of this short course

was to serve as an introduction to UX and to

design an app for remote workers.
